On March 23, 2008, Minnesota State's Mavericks received no invite to the National NCAA Hockey Championship Tournament. Six of ten WCHA teams made the national tournament: St. Cloud State University Huskies; Colorado College Tigers; North Dakota Fighting Sioux; Denver Pioneers; Wisconsin Badgers; and University of Minnesota Gophers.
The Mavericks recently got a commitment from Park Rapids forward Zach Lehrke. Lehrke, a top-10 Mr. Hockey finalist who finished 2nd in scoring in Minnesota high school hockey with 54 goals and 45 assists for 99 points. The state's leading goal scorer, he finished one point behind Mankato West's Ricky Litchfield in the regular-season scoring race. After the playoffs and the state tournament, Lehrke was one point behind Beau Hanowski of Little Falls. It appears likely that Lehrke will play some junior hockey before coming to Mankato. MSU coach Troy Jutting cannot comment on committed or potential recruits until they have signed national letters of intent. - Tuesday, March 18, 2008.

The Blue Line Club's Hospitality Room is a "pre-game" event with its doors opening up one hour before each men's home game at the Alltel Center in Mankato, Minnesota. Men's Coach Troy Jutting briefs all those present, an attendance drawing is held with plenty of prizes, beverages are served, and food and/or snacks are available.
During the 1st Period Intermission the Blue Line Club's Maverick Corral in open with its own smaller attendance drawing, beverages, and protected bathrooms. The "protected" restrooms benefit is no joke as Club members would otherwise have to wait in long lines to use the more public bathrooms. The Maverick Corral is under the stairs right in the Alltel Center and is a smaller room so not everybody gets to sit for the duration of the intermission between periods.
