With the Homecoming match-up against the University of Minnesota-Duluth coming Saturday, the Minnesota State volleyball team is switching up its strategy and creating plays in hopes of avenging its 3-1 loss this past Saturday.
"I'm really going to work on my shot selection and really getting a feel for, and tooling, the block," said outside hitter Cassie Wolpern.
Some of Wolpern's most consistent moves were not seen at UMD, she said, but she is ready to take the time off to fine-tune her skills and get them absolutely perfect for the match Saturday.
Megan Stroud is another key player in this weekend's match. After struggling last game against the Bulldogs, Stroud says she will be changing some things for Saturday.
"This week, I'm going to keep focusing on blocking so Duluth has errors offensively," Stroud said. "We're also going to work hard on our offense so we can really give Duluth some trouble."
Wolpern and Stroud have been key contributors in many wins this season and continue to be a very pivotal part of MSU's roster.
"The defensive tactics and the offensive tactics will be different of course," said MSU head coach Dennis Amundson, "but, you'll just have to watch at see at the game."
UMD brings a No. 6 ranking and a five-game winning streak into the Taylor Center. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday.
"We are going to be ready and it would be great to beat a ranked team at home on Homecoming," Stroud said.
