Sioux Falls, S.D. --- The office of the North Central Conference has announced that Minnesota State senior 157 pounder Jason Rhoten (Mantorville, Minn.) has been named the league's Wrestler of the Year. Head coach Jim Makovsky was also honored by the league as he was tabbed the Coach of the Year.

It was a bittersweet night for the Minnesota State wrestling squad. They claimed two individual national champions at the NCAA Division II National Championships at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, but finished in second place in the final team standings. The Mavericks finished with 108 points, finishing half a point behind Nebraska-Kearney.

This year's 46th Annual Hall of Fame Ceremony was held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on March 13, 2008, with three former MSU wrestlers inducted into the NCAA's Hall of Fame for Division II. They included Howie Gangestad (1962-65 @ 123 pounds); Larry Amundson (1965-68 @ 177 pounds), and Tony Kenning (1994-96 @ Heavyweight).
The team banquet was held on May 5, 2007. There was a great turnout of team members, their families, and takedown club members. See some pictures.
