In May of 2009, Minnesota State introduced Geoff Klein as head coach of the Maverick men’s golf program.
Klein, who is a financial advisor for Coulter, Schmidt & Klein in Mankato, is a 2002 Minnesota State graduate.
A four-year letterwinner on the Maverick men’s golf team from 1998-2002, Klein was a member of MSU’s North Central Conference championship team in 2000.
A four-time Mankato Golf Club champion, Klein competed in the 2007 United States Mid-Amateur at Bandon Dunes and the 2010 U.S. Mid-Amateur at the Atlantic Club. He tied for 17th at the Minnesota State Amateur tournament in 2011 and tied for sixth at the 2010 Minnesota State Mid-Amateur.
Klein has guided Minnesota State to NSIC Championships in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and appearances in threee NCAA Championship post-season tournaments where the Mavericks posted a 19th-place regional finish in 2010, a 20th-place finish in regional action in 2011 and a 16th place regional finish in 2012. He was named NSIC Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2012.
He and his wife, Jana, reside in Mankato.
