Jen Blue is in her eighth season as the head cross country and track and field coach at Minnesota State University.
The
2003 North Central Conference Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year, Blue is also a USATF Level 1 certified coach and has coached two NCAA Champions during her tenure at Minnesota State. In 2004 she helped
Amanda Frame to the first national track and field title for MSU women’s track, while helping Frame to get another title in 2005. In 2008 she aided
Katelin Rains in capturing the indoor pole vault title, helping her break the Division II height record that was set by Rains in 2008. Blue also was named the Northern Sun Indoor Coach of the Year and
2009 North Central Region Coach of the Year after leading the Mavericks to a league championship.
A 1998 graduate of North Dakota State University, Blue was a member of the 1995 and 1996 NCC indoor and outdoor championship teams. A four-time all-conference runner in the 800-meter run, Blue also qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in 1997 and 1998.
In the spring of 2001, Blue received a master’s degree in sports administration from MSU. In addition to her coaching duties, she currently teaches in the MSU Human Performance department. Blue and her husband, MSU assistant men’s hockey coach Darren Blue, reside in North Mankato, Minn.
