With nearly $31 million dollars in renovations and new construction in the last five years, Minnesota State University can truly boast athletic facilities that rank second to none!
While venerable Blakeslee Stadium has stood the test of time as a quality Division II football facility, recent construction on the south end of campus has pushed MSU to the forefront of collegiate athletics. Giving a fresh look to Stadium Road is Taylor Center (including weight room), the new Myers Field House and Highland Center Complex, which includes new locker rooms, equipment room, classroom and meeting areas, office space and athletic training complex.
The 4,800-seat facility houses Maverick basketball, volleyball and wrestling teams. The MSU Admissions office is also located here and the 5,000 square-foot Hall of Champions showcases the University's proud history. In addition to MSU athletic events and other sporting activities,Taylor Center also hosts MSU commencement ceremonies, major concerts and lectures.
A multi-purpose facility that boasts an eight-lane NCAA-sanctioned track with accommodations for 1,000 spectators, Myers Field House serves as the home of the MSU track and field teams and houses winter workouts for several other Maverick teams. MSU has hosted the NCC Indoor Track and Field Championships twice in the past four years in Myers Field House.
A state-of-the-art building located in the heart of downtown Mankato, the Civic Center seats 5,000 for Maverick men's hockey games. The Civic Center has also played host to several name musical acts including Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Brooks & Dunn, Styx, Kiss, Def Leppard, REO Speedwagon, Poison, Sammy Hager, Bob Dylan, ZZ Top, John Fogerty, Kenny Rogers, John Denver and Alan Jackson.
Home to Minnesota State University Football, MSU's Blakeslee Stadium has also served as the summer training camp home to the NFL's Minnesota Vikings since 1965. The 7,000-seat facility offers great sitelines and a natural grass surface.
With 7,326-square feet of space and equipment totalling 8.20 tonnes, Minnesota State student-athletes can workout in one of the top facilities in the nation.
