WR 3/23/09 Mavericks Ranked Fourth in the Sixteenth Annual Division II All-Academic Wrestling Team Selection

Mankato, Minn.--- The Minnesota State wrestling squad finished fourth with a team grade point average of 3.274 in the NWCA’s Division II All-Academic Wrestling Teams Top Twenty list. The Mavericks are the highest ranked team in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and are accompanied by fellow NSIC teams Minnesota State University-Moorhead (16), Augustana College (17), Northern State University (18) and St. Cloud State University (19).
The Team GPA is calculated by averaging the cumulative grade point averages of ten wrestlers from each team of which eight of those wrestlers must have competed in their team’s NCAA II National Qualifying tournament.
Truman State is the top ranked school on the list with a cumulative GPA of 3.467 followed by runner-up Colorado School of Mines who posted a 3.424 cumulative GPA.
The Minnesota State wrestlers finished the 2008-2009 season with an overall record of 12-4 and earned third in the nation with 71.5 points. The Mavericks also won conference and regional team titles.
