Minneapolis, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women’s tennis team opened the 2009 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Individual tournament Saturday at the Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

In doubles action the #1 doubles team of senior Marina Bugaenco and sophomore Sarah Madigan – who are ranked #5 in the region, finished first while the #2 flight of junior Paige Burke and sophomore Heather Jensen finished third with a 3-1 record on the day. The #3 flight, comprised of freshman Carly Hiedeman and junior Casandra Anderson was fourth after playing to a 2-2 record.
