Bugaenco Named NSIC Player of the Year

St. Paul, Minn. --- Minnesota State senior #1 singles player Marina Bugaenco has been named the 2009 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Year and has been named to the First-Team All-NSIC squad.
The Chisinau, Moldova native owns a 23-1 record this season and this past weekend she claimed the 2009 NSIC Individual Championship. In league play, Bugaenco went 11-0.
Sophomore #2 singles player Sarah Madigan (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) was named Honorable Mention All-NSIC. Madigan, who owns a 12-13 record this season and was 8-3 in league play, finished second at last weekend's NSIC Individual Championship.
Bugaenco and Madigan, who have teamed to play to a 15-8 doubles record this year, including a 8-2 record in the league, were named to the Doubles First-Team All-NSIC squad.
Minnesota State (12-10) opens the 2009 NCAA championships Friday at 1 p.m., against MSU Billings.
