Maverick's Season Ends With 5-3 Loss To Montana State Billings

Sartell, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women’s tennis team suffered a 5-3 loss to Montana State University-Billings Friday afternoon in the 2009 NCAA Central Regional tournament held at the Sartell High School Tennis Courts.
The Mavericks opened with victories in two of the three doubles matches. Senior Marina Bugaenco and sophomore Sarah Madigan – a tandem ranked #5 in the region – earned an 8-2 win at #1 doubles while junior Paige Burke and sophomore Heather Jensen won by the same score at the #2 flight.
In singles action Montana State Billings would win four matches to seal the victory. Buagaenco, ranked #35 in the nation and #1 in the region, was MSU’s only winner in singles play, earning a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the #1 flight.
Minnesota State’s season ends with a 12-11 record.
