Mankato, Minn. – The Minnesota State soccer squad played host to the Augustana Vikings in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match-up on Sunday afternoon at the Pitch. The Mavericks defeated the Vikings by a score of 3-1.
Minnesota State scored the games first goal when junior Ann Kincaid found the back of the net for her third goal of the season at the 27:37 mark of the first half. Kincaid’s goal was set up by senior Gina Paletta
The Vikings tied the game at the 39:26 mark when Katyln Bowman deflected a shot of the defender, tying the game at one.
Senior defender Abby Maxson scored the Mavericks second goal of the game at 47:54 into match. Maxson was assisted by sophomore forward Sarah Schellingerand junior midfielderLauren ButtersThe goal marks Maxson’s second goal of the year.
Mavericks score an insurance goal on an own goal at the 74:45 mark of the game.
Senior goalkeeper Sheila Reynolds had two saves in the victory.
Minnesota State (10-2-1, 6-2-1 NSIC) hosts Winona State Saturday at 12 p.m.
