Bowls to 2-2 Record in Opening Day of Crusader Classic

Valpariso, Ind. – The 12th-ranked Minnesota State women’s bowling team opened the 2009 Crusader Classic with a 2-2 record. The two-day event concludes Saturday.
Minnesota State opened the day with suffering a 717-678 loss to #16 Wisconsin-Whitewater. In the second match of the day, MSU raced to a 40-pin lead after the first game and downed #17 Elmhurst, 752-717. Sophomore Kelsey Dunkle was 8-for-8 in the match, totaling six strikes and two spares.
In the third match, MSU defeated #20 Valparaiso, 662-642. The Mavericks led through the first three games and sealed the win with three consecutive strikes by senior anchor Ashley Clinchoc. In the day’s final match, Adrian downed MSU, 704-666.
The Mavericks are now 17-15 on the season.
