Ames, Iowa – Senior heavyweight Brady Wilson (Faribault, Minn.) went 3-2 and placed fourth at the Harold Nichols Open, hosted by Iowa State University. The three-time All-American was the only Maverick to place in the top six at the tournament, which featured some of the top teams in NCAA Division I.
Following an opening-round bye, Wilson took a 4-2 decision from Michael Bucklin of Wartburg College. In the quarterfinals, he cruised to a 20-7 major decision over Taylor Escamilla of Nebraska-Omaha. Wilson was sent to the consolation bracket with a 5-0 loss at the hands of two-time Division I All-American David Zabriske of host Iowa State. He was the recipient of a medical forfeit to move into the third-place match, where he fell by a score of 5-2 to Blake Rasing of the University of Iowa..
Minnesota State continues tournament action next weekend with a trip to the Kaufman/Brand Open, hosted by the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
