Mankato, Minn. — Minnesota State kicks of its 2009-10 season with a four-game home stand beginning with Dana College Tuesday, at 7 p.m., at Taylor Center.
What’s in a Win: A win would mark the 564th win in program history...It would also be the second win over Dana College in program history...A win would be the 31st season-opening victory and 10th consecutive season-opening victory in program history......A win would be the 73rd at Taylor Center and fourth consecutive home victory.
MSU-Dana Notables: This will be the second match-up between the two teams. MSU is 1-0 against Dana. In their first match-up, Jan. 2, 2008, MSU earned the victory, 89-57, at Taylor center.
Viking Views: The Vikings return two starters from last season, led by senior guard Tricia Trotter and senior guard Megan Finn. Trotter averaged 12.4 points, 2.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds last season, while Finn averaged 4.4 points and 1.8 assists.
Last year, Dana finished with a 9-20 overall record and a 3-15 Great Plains Conference record. Head coach Shane Larson is in his second year with the program.
All-Time: The 2009-10 season marks the 45th year of women’s basketball as a varsity sport at Minnesota State. MSU currently holds a 563-508 (.526) and has made three NCAA Tournament Appearances in 1986, 2008 and 2009.
Looking Ahead: Minnesota State squares off against Dana College Tuesday, at 7 p.m., at Taylor Center. The Mavericks kick-off the ninth Pepsi Tip-Off tourament in program history. Friday MSU battles Grand View at 6 p.m., then take on Waldorf Saturday at 6 p.m.
