National Championship Banner to be Unveiled

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Mavericks will unveil the 2008-09 NCAA Division II Championship banner prior to Saturday's game against Waldorf, which is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

MSU went 32-2 en route to its first NCAA national championship. MSU was also named the #1 team in the nation for two weeks and earned its first conference championship since the 1985-86 season.

The Mavericks set several school records during the season including: most wins in a season (32), longest winning streak (17), points scored in a season (2,763), and points per game (81.3). MSU also set a new NSIC record for conference wins in a season with 19.

This season the Mavericks are ranked first in the NSIC preseason poll, sixth in the USA Today ESPN preseason Division II poll, and 12th in the 2009 Women's Division II preseason Poll.

The Mavericks host the ninth annual Pepsi Tip-Off tournament this weekend. Friday they will take on Grand View at 6 p.m. in Taylor Center.
