Maverick Men & Women Ranked Fifth in ITA Region

Mankato, Minn. — The Minnesota State men's and women's tennis teams are each ranked fifth in the fall edition of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Rankings released this week.
On the men's side, Western New Mexico is the top team in the region, followed by Mesa State, Metro State, Nebraska-Kearney, Minnesota State, Colorado Christian and CSU-Pueblo. On the women's side, Mesa State is the top ranked team, followed by Metro State, Upper Iowa, Nebraska-Kearney, Minnesota State, Winona State, CSU-Puebl and Southwest Minnesota State.
The men's double team of senior Chad Berger and sophomore Marco Vasquez is ranked #9 in the region. Junior Sarah Madigan is ranked #14 in the region individually on the women's side, and Madigan and freshman teammate Brandi Dohman are ranked #9 in doubles.
The Minnesota State women open the 2010 season against Bethany Lutheran on Feb. 6, while the men open their season against UW-Eau Claire Feb. 12.
