St. Paul, Minn.—The office of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced its NSIC All-Conference Teams, with five players from the Minnesota State women’s soccer team representing MSU.
Senior midfielder Gina Paletta (Omaha, Neb.) and junior forward Laura Leber (Council Bluffs, Iowa) were named to the first team. Senior defender Kristen Carpentier (Lakeville, Minn.) was named second team member. Junior midfielder Jessie Audas (Omaha, Neb.) was third team member and freshman midfielder Brianne West (Omaha, Neb.) was an honorable mention.
Paletta is second on the team in goals, assists, and points (7-9-23). In NSIC play she holds down second for assists with nine. The nine assists is a career-high. Paletta had a career-high match, offensively, last weekend in the 8-0 victory over MSU Moorhead scoring two goals, earning two assists and accumulating six points (10/31). Has 17-15-49 on her career. She was a member of the NSIC All-Conference second team in 2008.
Leber leads the team in goals with 11 and in points with 24. In conference matches this season, she finished fourth for goals (11), tied for fourth in points (24) and fifth in game-winning goals (5). She leads the team in game-winning goals, shots on goal (39) and shots (64). Leber has two assists this season. Tallied her second career hat-trick in the 6-0 victory over Ferris State (8/28), earning her second NSIC Offensive Player of the Week award Aug. 31. Last season she was named NSIC All-Conference first team member.
Carpentier sits fourth on the team in assists with three. She has three points on the season. Posted a career-high match in the 6-0 victory of Ferris State (8/28) with two assists, earning two points. Playing in 52 matches over her career she has posted four assists accumulating four points. Last season she was named NSIC All-Academic Soccer Team member.
Audas sits third on the team in game-winning goals with two. Earned second career assist in the 8-0 victory over MSU-Moorhead (10/31). Has two goals, two assists, accumulating six points on the season. Playing 61 matches in her career thus far, she has posted seven goals, 13 assists, accumulating 27 points. In 2008 she was named NSIC All-Academic Soccer Team member.
West has started 16 of 18 matches in her freshman season. She has posted one goal, six assists, accumulating eight points. Earned her first career goal in the 8-0 victory over MSU-Moorhead Oct. 31. Posting 23 shots, she sits fifth on the team in shots on goal with 17. West is fourth on the team in game-winning goals with one. In the conference she is tied for eighth in assists with six.
The Mavericks earned the #4-seed in the NSIC Tournament after finishing fourth in the conference standings with a 9-3-1 record. MSU defeated #5-seed University of Mary in a shootout, game-winning goal by Leber, Wednesday at The Pitch at Gage Towers. They advance to the semifinals battling Winona State in Winona, Minn. Friday afternoon.
