#13 Minnesota State Volleyball Squad Falls to #15 Southwest Minnesota State

Marshall, Minn. --- In a battle of two nationally ranked teams, #15 Southwest Minnesota State University swept #13 Minnesota State University in three sets. The Mustangs defeated the Mavericks by scores of 25-15, 25-20, and 25-18.  The loss moves MSU to 24-5 overall and 14-3 in NSIC action.

Minnesota State freshman outside hitter Chelsea Fogarty (Bell Plaine, Minn.) led the Mavericks in kills with 12. Sophomore setter Brittany Stamer (Hutchinson, Minn.) continued to set up her teammates earning 32 assists.

Freshman Samantha Dale (Alexandria, Minn.) had 14 digs on the day to lead Minnesota State, while senior defensive specialist Kelly Sandstrom (Andover, Minn.) added 10.  Junior middle blocker Amanda Thompson (Stewartville, Minn.) had two blocks to lead MSU.

As a team the Mavericks had 39 kills compared to the Mustang’s 47.   

Minnesota State University will continue NSIC action next Tuesday, November 10, when they play host to Minnesota State- Moorhead.
