Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State football team hosted its year-end awards ceremony Saturday afternoon in the CSU Ballroom on the campus of Minnesota State University.
In all, 17 awards were given out in the offensive, defensive, special forces (special teams) and leadership category. The Offensive Player of the Year Award went to senior wideout
Vincent Flury (Lakeville, Minn.). Sophomore defensive back
Jesse Hamilton (Racine, Wis.) was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year and freshman kicker,
Sam Brockshus (Spencer, Iowa) was named the Specialist of the Year.
The Offensive Back award went to junior
Ernest Walker (St. Paul, Minn.). Flury also won the Offensive Perimeter , while senior offensive lineman
Adrian Battles (Milwaukee, Wis.) was given the Offensive Lineman award. Redshirt freshman wide receiver
Adam Thielen (Detroit Lakes, Minn.) earned the Offensive Newcomer award, while freshman
Chris Schaudt (Huxley, Iowa), who redshirted this year was the Defensive Scout Player award.
On the defensive side, the Defensive Back award went to Hamilton while senior linebacker Kevin Klug (Caledonia, Minn.) earned the Linebacker honor. Senior defensive tackle
Randy Earl was given the Defensive Lineman award and junior defensive back
Troy Jones (Maple Grove, Minn.) was named the Newcomer of the Year. The Offensive Scout Player award was given to freshman
Ray Teachout (Mankato, Minn.), who redshirted this year.
Senior defensive back
Jeff Stenger (Hoover, Calif.) was named the Special Forces Player of the Year while freshman
Cole Klotz (New Berlin, Wis.) was named the Special Forces Scout of the Year.
The 2010 Unity Council was also announced Saturday and it will be comprised of

All awards were voted on by the players of the football team.
Minnesota State finished the 2009 season with a 10-2 record and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for the second straight season and the fifth time in school history.
