Maverick Swimmers and Divers In Action Friday

Mankato, Minn. —  The Minnesota State women's swimming and diving teams split their squads this weekend.  The women competed at UW-River Falls Invite at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center while the diving team traveled to St. Cloud State to participate in the SCSU Diving Invite.

In the pool, MSU claimed third in the 200-yard freestyle relay touching in 1:37.92. The relay squad was made up of junior Kim Christensen, senior Angela Krych, junior Chelsea Chapman and sophomore Kaitlin Ogden.

Freshman Marissa Reeve finished second in the "B" final - and 10th overall in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:11.32.  Freshman Tabetha Temperley finished sixth in the "B" final and 14th overall in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.68. 

Christensen was fourth in the "A" final of the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :24.49, while Krych finished seventh in :24.82.  Chapman finished sixth in the "B" final and 14th overall in the race with a time of :25.36.

Krych was fifth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.72 while freshman Alyssa Kuffel was fourth in the "B" final and 12th overall in the 100-yard breaststroke with  a time of 1:09.49.  Ogden finished sixth in the "B" final and 14th overall in the race with a time of 1:10.03, while junior Heather Schulz was seventh in the "B" final and 15th overall with a time of 1:10.22.

In the 2-0-yard freestyle, junior Kristin Hayes was sixth in the "B" final and 14th overall with a time of 2:00.12. 

The 400-yard medley relay finished sixth with a time of 4:04.30.  That squad was made up of Krych, junior Claire Bergman, Temperly and Christensen.

On the diving board, junior Janel Duffy was third in the one-meter dive with 370.85 points.   Sophomore Beth Keskey finished 10th with 324.15, while freshmen Catherine Mahoney and Cristen Norman were 17th and 18th with scores of 276.30 and 269.65.

The two-day long events conclude Saturday.
