Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State started its 2009-10 indoor track & field season the Mavericks hosted the MSU Pre-Season Open.
No team scores were kept during the event.
Maverick sprinter Linnelle Clark finished second in the 60 Meter Dash with a time of 7.75.
Two MSU runners finished in the top five in the Women 200 Meter Dash, Becca Schmidt finished second with a time of 26.09, along with senior Kelsey Leonard who finished fourth (26.37).
In the Women 300 Meter Dash sophomore Michelle Farley took second place with a time of 42.69 and Dayna Sherman finished in fourth with a time of 44.05.
Leonard took first place in the Women 600 Meter Run with a time of 1:41.63. Also running in the event was Lauren Beukelman finishing second (1:41.90) and Melissa Clark rounding out the top five with a time of 1:43.33.
Senior Natalie Lyster finished second in the Women 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:22.33, while Emily Wood took home third place in the event with a time of 2:31.41.
In the Women 3000 Meter Run MSU had three runners finish in the top five, junior Jenny Hoese finished in second with a time of 11:06.64, while freshman Kelsey Magnusin finished third (11:31.86) and freshman Katherine Anundson finished fourth in 11:42.03.
Senior Amanda Dettman competed in the Women 1 Mile Run finishing in a time of 5:24.79 giving her second place.
Women High Jumper Andrea Sellers tied for first with a mark of 1.62m.
In women’s Pole Vault junior Lauren Stelten received first place with a mark of 3.85m, while senior Whitney Kroschel took second clearing 3.50m and Laura Schuneman tied for fifth (3.35m).
Senior Amelia Shaller finished eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.97 meters while finishing 10th in the shot put with a toss of 11.77 meters.
In the triple jump, Lindsey Hermel was 10th with a jump of 9.80 meters while Andrea Sellers was second in the high jump with a leap of 1.62 meters.
The Mavericks return to action Jan. 9 when they host the MSU Open.
