Waco, Texas. --- The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) has announced that Minnesota State senior offensive lineman Andy Schoonover has been named to the 2009 AFCA Division II All-American Team.

Schoonover is one of 47 Mavericks to have been named an All-American in the programs history and is the sixth to receive an All-American award from the AFCA.

This past season, Schoonover anchored a Maverick offensive line that helped the Mavericks total 4,749 yards of total offense (2,601 rushing, 2,148 passing). During his career at Minnesota State, he was a two-time All-NSIC South Division selection and a two-time First-Team All-Region pick by Daktronics.

Last month, Schoonover finished third in the region in the Gene Upshaw balloting.

Minnesota State finished the 2009 season with a 10-2 record and advanced to the NCAA playoffs for the fifth time in school history and the second time in as many seasons.
