Six Maverick Swimmers Hit "A" or "B" Cuts At Last-Chance Meet

Minneapolis, Minn. --- The Minnesota State swimming and diving team sent a handful of swimmers to the University of Minnesota Sunday afternoon to participate in a “Last-Chance Meet”.
On the women’s side, junior Adrienne Vida reached hit the “A” standard for the national championships, earning herself an automatic bid, with a time of 2:22.09 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Vida also hit a “B” standard in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.79. Sophomore Kristin Hayes swam to a “B” qualifying standard in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of :53.43.
On the men’s side, junior Ben Dowswell hit a “B” standard time in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of :46.20. Senior Marty
Wahle reached the “B” standard in two events. He swam to a time of :50.95 in the 100-yard butterfly and swam to a time of :21.02 – establishing a new school record – in the 50-yard freestyle.
MSU will wait to find out the postseason fate for several of its swimmers Sunday evening when the NCAA announces its Division II Championship field. The NCAA Division II Championships will be held March 11-14 in Houston, Texas as part of the NCAA Division II Winter Sports Festival.
