Wahle Finishes Eighth In 200-yard Individual Medley

Houston, Texas - The Minnesota State men’s swimming and diving team sits in 12th-place with 32 points after the opening day of the 2009 NCAA Division II Championships. The event, which is held at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium on the campus of the University of Houston, is part of the NCAA Division II Winter Sports Festival.

Drury leads the field with 101 points.

Senior Marty Wahle earned finished eighth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:50.48. Wahle finished eighth in the prelims with a time of 1:50.21, to advance to the finals.

Wahle also earned All-American status in the 200-yard medley relay as he joined with junior Ben Dowswell, and seniors Scott Kent and Zac Ruzycki to turn in an 11th-place finish with a time of 1:32.01. The quartet advanced to the finals after a 10th-place finish in the prelims with a time of 1:31.600.

Sophomore diver Billy Meyer was ninth in the three-meter dive with a score of 365.25 points

Ruzycki turned in 53rd-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :21.93.

The four-day long event continues Thursday.
