Minnesota State Attends Howard Wood Dakota Relays and Hamline Track Meet

Sioux Falls- S.D.--- The Minnesota State men’s and women’s track and field participated in the Howard Wood Dakota Relays. Below are the results of the top Maverick performers.
Junior Kelsey Leonard (Hermantown, Minn.) earned second place in the women’s 400 meter dash with a time of :56.66. In the women’s 200 meter dash, junior Brittney Henderson (Milwaukee, Wis.) earned first place with a time of :24.18. The women’s 4x100 meter dash team earned first place with a time of :47.20.
Senior Mike Elliot (Sioux Falls, S.D.) participated in the men’s 400 meter dash and earned third overall with a time of :49.64. The men’s 4x100 meter dash team earned first place with a time of :42.30.

Minnesota State also competed in the Hamline’s Meet of the Unsaitly track meet this weekend. Below are the results of the top Maverick performers.
Senior Samantha Smith (Wright, Minn.) competed in the 3000 meter steeplechase and earned second with a time of 11:32.24 and teammate sophomore Jen Lang (Apple Valley, Minn.) also competed in the event and earned fifth with a time of 12:16.39. In the women’s 1500 meter run, senior Rachael Smalley (La Crosse, Wis.) earned fourth with a time of 4:53.84. Freshman Megan Olson (Stillwater, Minn.) earned second in the preliminaries for the women’s 110 meter hurdles with a time of :14.97 and qualified for the finals. Olson also competed in the women’s 100 meter hurdles and earned second with a time of :14.69. Junior Kelsey Leonard (Hermantown, Minn.) participated in the women’s 400 meter dash and earned fourth with a time of :56.93. In the women’s 100 meter dash, sophomore Linnelle Clark (Milwaukee, Wis.) competed in the women’s 100 meter dash and earned fifth with a time of :12.29. Junior Brittney Henderson (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished first in the women’s in the 200 meter dash with a time of :24.18. Sophomore Lauren Stelten (Cologne, Minn.) finished fourth in the women’s pole vault with a vault of 3.55 meters. Senior Andrea Sellers (Mason City, Iowa) earned second in the women’s javelin throw with a throw of 37.93.
On the men’s side, junior James Krasja (Moorhead, Minn.) participated in the men’s 1500 meter run and earned fifth with a time of 4:05.65. Junior Sam Lance (Woodbury, Minn.) and junior Brady Flies (Plainview, Minn.) participated in the men’s 400 meter dash and earned fourth and fifth respectively with times of :49.49 and :49.82. Sophomore Kyle Henderson (Minneapolis, Minn.) earned fifth overall in the 100 meter dash with a time of :10.86. Junior Denis Mokaya (Ngong, Kenya) participated in the men’s 800 meter dash and finished second overall with a time of 1:53.44. Freshman Lucas Torres (Amboy, Wis.) finished second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of :55.53. Sophomore Dana Schmidt (Grundy Center, Iowa) finished first in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:48.17. In the men’s 4x400 meter relay, Minnesota State finished third overall with a time of 3:20.65. Senior Ben Mauch (Mankato, Minn.) and freshman Dan Novak (Wausaw, Wis.) finished first and second respectively in the men’s pole vault with vaults of 4.80 meters and J4.80 meters.
Minnesota State track and field will compete in the NSIC Championships in Wayne, Neb. this Friday and Saturday.
