Zacharias Signs with Ontario; Tormey With Toledo
Former Maverick Goaltenders Start Pro Careers With ECHL Teams

Mike Zacharias and
Dan Tormey are both beginning their professional careers after agreeing to contracts with East Coast Hockey League organizations.
Zacharis, a Plymouth, Minn., native signed with Ontario (Calif.), an affiliate of Los Angeles of the National Hockey League. A two-time team Most Valuable Player, Zacharias established school career records with a .910 save save percentage and 2.71 goals against average, Zacharias completed his MSU career with a 45-39-16 won-loss record. Zacharias was a four-time WCHA Defensive Player of the Week during the course of his career.
Tormey, a four-year letterwinner from Syracuse, N.Y., inked a deal with Toledo, which is affiliated with the NHLs’ Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks. Named to the WCHA All-Rookie Team as a freshman in 2005-06 when he posted 14-13-4, .902% and 2.83 numbers, Tormey suffered an injury his sophomore season and went on to complete his MSU career with 19-27-4 won-loss record, .887 save percentage and a 3.33 goals against average.
