Mavericks Claim 2009 NSIC/RMAC Regional Crossover Title
Black and Herzog Post Top Ten Finishes in Leading Minnesota State to Tournament Title
Gothenburg, Neb. — The Minnesota State men’s golf team finished first at the 2009 Regional Crossover Tournament which took place in Gothenburg, Neb., the past two days.
Minnesota State combined to card a 54-hole team total of 925, placing the Mavericks one stroke in front of the second-place finishers from Nebraska-Kearney. Colorado School of Mines and St. Cloud State tied for third at 932 .
A total of 17 teams competed in the tournament held at the par-72 Wild Horse Golf Club.
Senior Bryant Black, who shot 225 with rounds of 74-76-75 to finish third in the individual standings, was MSU's top individual. Senior Jon Herzog's 77-79--75--232 tied him for eighth. Senior Jordan Dockter carded a 76-8--80 and is tied for 21st. Junior Kyle Bahe, who recorded an double eagle in the second round, shot 78-85-74---237 to tie for 30th and junior Kyle Welch carded 78-81-79--238 to tie for 32nd.
The Mavericks, who also claimed the St. Cloud State Invitational team championship two weekends ago, are slated to compete in the first round of the NSIC Tournament Oct. 3-5.
