St. Paul, Minn. – The offices of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference have announced that Minnesota State senior heavyweight
Brady Wilson (Faribault, Minn.) has been named
NSIC Wrestler of the Week for his performance at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals. It is the second such honor for Wilson this season.
Wilson went 4-0 to lead the Mavericks to a 3-1 record and third-place finish at the duals. The three-time All-American defended his top ranking against three nationally ranked opponents. On Saturday, he crafted a 4-3 decision over #2 Charlie Alexander of Western State and he followed that up with a fall over Mike Carpenter of West Liberty State at 2:59. On Sunday, he picked up his second win of the season over #3 Elijah Madison of Nebraska-Omaha by a score of 2-1 and completed the perfect weekend with a 6-0 domination of #5 Frank McGrath of Gannon. With the four wins, Wilson is now 17-6 on the season with five falls. All six losses have been to NCAA Division I opposition.
Twelfth-ranked Minnesota State, now 4-1-0, returns home with a non-conference dual against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Match time is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Bresnan Arena.
