Maverick Hockey Olympic Update - Feb. 16, 2010

All three of Minnesota State Olympians have all made their debuts at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games taking place in Vancouver during the course of Feb. 12-27.

Defenseman Emilia Andersson and Team Sweden earned a 3-0 win over Switzerland Saturday, Feb. 13.  She also picked up assist in a 6-2 win over Slovakia Monday, Feb. 16.  Sweden’s next game is slated for Wednesday, Feb. 17 vs. Canada.

Forward Nina Tikkinen scored twice in playing a key role in Finland’s 5-1 victory over Russia Saturday, Feb. 14.  Next up for the Finns is a game vs. China Tuesday night.

And forward David Backes scored the game-winning goal as the United States downed Switzerland 3-1 in the men’s competition which began today, Tuesday, Feb. 16.  The American men play Norway Thursday, Feb. 18th in their next action.
