Reeve Wins in 1,000-Yard Freestyle

Omaha, Neb. --- Minnesota State freshman Marissa Reeve opened the 2010 Midwest Conference Championships with a first-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle touching in 10:33.31, more than three seconds faster than the second-place finisher, Amy Bechdolt of Nebraska-Omaha.

Seniors Ana Arnold and Rachel Busch each recorded top-10 finishes in the race, with Arnold finishing fourth in 10:41.87, while Busch was eighth in 10:55.34.  Freshman Kelsea Smith also scored points as she finished 11th in 11:07.81.

Both Reeve and Arnold reached the NCAA Division II Championship provisional mark with their times.

The Mavericks sit in second-place with a score of 69 points.  St. Cloud State leads the four-team event with 74 points.  The championships continue Thursday and run through Saturday.
