Edmond, Okla. –Minnesota State fell from seventh to ninth in the final edition of the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association poll. Nebraska-Omaha retained its top ranking, while conference foes Upper Iowa and Augustana sit ahead of MSU at #3 and #5 respectively. St. Cloud State is directly below the Mavericks at #10
Senior heavyweight Brady Wilson (Faribault, Minn.) once again occupied the top spot on the individual side. The three-time All-American won two matches since the last poll, including a 3-2 win over #2 Elijah Madison of Nebraska-Omaha, to improve to 24-4 on the season. Junior Andy Forstner (Madelia, Minn.) jumped up one spot to #5 at 125 pounds after an upset win over #2 Terrell McKinney of Nebraska-Omaha and 16-7 win over Jacob Boutros of Northern State at 133 pounds. He is now 17-9 on the season. Junior Ben Becker (Fort Dodge, Iowa) rounds out the Mavericks showing with a sixth-place ranking at 174 pounds. Becker went 1-1 in the last two dual meets, including an 11-4 win over Philip Downs of Northern State.
Minnesota State will host #10 St. Cloud State at Bresnan Arena Friday at 7:00 p.m., before heading to Marshall, Minn., to face Southwest Minnesota State at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
