Maverick Men Earn Thirteen Top-Five, Two First Place in Snowshoe Open

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- Minnesota State men’s track and field traveled to the campus of the University of Minnesota to participate in the Snowshoe Open. The squad earned thirteen top-five finishes, two of them first place.

Leandro Dower earned first place in section 4 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.95, while the men’s 4x400 meter men’s relay team of Adam Endres, Austin Eliason, Dayo Obilade and Sam Lance finished first with a time of 3:18.35.

In the 60 meter dash, Nick Nelson earned fifth place (7.05) in the 60 meter dash and in the 400 meter dash, Sam Lance finished second in section 1 one a time of 49.48 and Lucas Torres finished second in section 4 with a time of 52.02. With a time of 1:22.65, Todd Reed finished second in section 2 of the 600 meter run, while Edward Van Pelt finished second in section two with a time of 1:24.92. In the 800 meter run, Jonathan Stoltman finished third (1:55.23) in section 1 of the 800 meter run and Nick Ramberg finished fourth (1:58.70).

In the field events, Dan Novak earned fourth in the pole vault with a vault of 4.96 meters, while Dayo Ologunde finished third in the triple jump with a jump of 13.62 meters. In the shot put, Tyler Velzke finished third in flight 2 with a toss of 15.03 meters and in the weight throw, Michael Robinson finished second in flight 2 with a throw of 16.39 meters.

The Mavericks will compete in the NSIC Championships next weekend, February 26 and 27. The event will take place in Mankato, Minn. at Meyers Field House.
