Omaha, Neb. --- The Minnesota State women’s swimming and diving team finished third in the 2010 Midwest Conference Championships with a score of 983.5 points. The four-day long meet wrapped up today.
Freshman Marissa Reeve won the Freshman Swimmer of the Meet award after winning the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:38.82, which was a “B” standard time. Senior Ana Arnold also hit a “B” standard with a third-place finish in the race with a time of 17:52.84.
Three Mavericks scored points in the 200-yard backstroke led by freshman Tabby Temperley’s fourth-place finish of 2:10.81. Senior Rachel Busch finished eighth in 2:19.09, while junior BrieAnna Simon was 10th in 2:21.73.
The Mavericks saw five swimmers earn points in the 100-yard freestyle led by junior Kristin Hayes ninth-place finish of :54.14. Junior Chelsea Chapman was 11th in :54.78, while fellow junior Kim Christensen was 12th in 1:00.95. Sophomores Stefanie Edward and Kaitlin Ogden finished 16th and 17th with times of :55.89 and 56.55.
Junior Heather Schulz finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:28.82, while sophomore Adrienne Vida was eighth in 2:30.56. Junior Claire Bergman was ninth in 2:31.90.
In the 200-yard butterfly, sophomore Emily Timm was eighth in 2:16.10, while Simon turned in a ninth-place finish of 2:23.50.
The Mavericks finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay, touching in 3:32.97. That relay team was made up of senior Angela Krych, Temperley, Hayes and Christensen.
In the three-meter dive, junior Janel Duffy finished second with a score of 400.55, while sophomore Beth Keskey was fifth in 372.35. Freshman Cristen Norman was sixth in the three-meter dive with a score of 290.85.
The Mavericks are off until the NCAA Championships next month.
