Mokaya Earns NSIC Track Athlete of the Week

    Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State's senior distance runner, Denise Mokaya (Ngong, Kenya), was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, Track athlete of the week.

Last weekend, Mokaya earned first place in the mile run as he broke his old school record with a time of 4:06:61 at the Ted Nelsen Classic in Mankato, Minn. Mokaya's previous record was 4:08:45. The new record is the sixth fastest mile time in the nation this year.

Mokaya was named the NSIC Men's Preseason Track Athlete of the Year, as he qualified for the 800-meter run last year for the second consecutive season.

The men's track and field will continue action in Ames, Iowa, February 12.
