Mavericks Announce Spring, Fall Schedules

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State football team will open its annual Spring Practice Monday, March 29 at 3:30 p.m., on the practice fields of Blakeslee Stadium on the campus of Minnesota State University. 

Minnesota State, which will hold 15 spring practices, will welcome 67 players to spring practice.  The Mavericks are coming off a 2009 campaign which saw them finish 10-2, including a NSIC South Division Championship and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for the second straight year.

Spring Football Information: The Mavericks will practice 15 times during the next month with all practices conducted on the Blakeslee Stadium practice fields, weather permitting. Practices times will vary depending upon the day (see adjacent box for times). The first two practices will be without pads as per NCAA regulations, with the Mavericks slated to go in full pads for 12 practice sessions. Minnesota State will conclude spring drills with the Spring Game that will begin at 1 p.m., on Saturday, April 24, in Blakeslee Stadium.

2010 Schedule: Minnesota State has announced its tentative 2010 football schedule.

The Mavericks will play 11 games over 11 weeks, beginning Thursday, Sept. 2 with a 6 p.m.,  home contest against Northern Michigan.  Minnesota State then travels to Northern State and Minnesota Crookston for a pair of 1 p.m., contests before returning to Blakeslee Stadium for a 6 p.m., contest against Concordia University Sept. 25.

Minnesota State will travel to Winona State for the second straight season Oct. 2 before hosting St. Cloud State in its annual homecoming game Oct. 9 at 2 p.m.  The Mavericks then host Upper Iowa Oct. 16, before trips to Wayne and Augustana to close out the month of October.

The Mavericks entertain Southwest Minnesota State Nov. 6, before closing the regular season against two-time defending league champion Minnesota Duluth Nov. 13 at 1 p.m.  All times are subject to change.
