Mavericks Complete 2009-10 With 16-20-3 Overall Record as Youds Becomes Fifth Defenseman to Lead Minnesota State in Scoring; Mouillierat and Irwin Ink Professional Contracts as Seven Seniors Finish Collegiate Careers
For the Year: Minnesota State finished its 2009-10 season with a first-round Western Collegiate Hockey Association series loss at St. Cloud State March 12-13 with the Huskies claiming the best-of-three series by a 2-1 margin. The Mavericks won the first game in overtime, 5-4. SCSU answered with a 3-2 win Saturday before claiming the series with a 3-2 overtime win Sunday.

Ben Youds, who had a goal and two assists in the WCHA play-off series at St. Cloud State, enjoyed a break-out year offensively and led the Mavericks in scoring on the season with 3-23--26. Junior forward

Kevin Murdock (1-3-1, 3.46, .895) combined for a team goals against average of 2.83 and a .905 save percentage on the year.
The Mavericks have 710 wins in the 41-year history of the program.
MSU and the WCHA Postseason: MSU stands 9-24 all-time in WCHA play-off action. Including a 4-20 mark in first-round road play-off games, the Mavericks are 9-22 in first-round WCHA play-off games. MSU has participated the WCHA play-offs 13 times and has won two first-round series - vs. Alaska-Anchorage in 1999-2000 and vs. Wisconsin in 2002-03.
