What Lies Ahead: The Minnesota State (11-11, 6-4 NSIC) women's tennis team – ranked seventh in the latest ITA Central Regional Ranking – opens the 2010 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships Saturday as it plays Upper Iowa at the Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. First serve is slated for 8 a.m.
The Rest of the Field: Augustana claimed the regular season championship as it posted a 10-0 league mark. The Vikings open the NSIC championships against eighth-seeded Minnesota Duluth at 1 p.m. on Saturday. St. Cloud State is the #2 seed and will play #7 seed Southwest Minnesota State at 4 p.m., while third-seeded Winona State and sixth-seeded MSU Moorhead at 7 p.m. The winners advance to Sunday's semifinals at 8 a.m.
What Just Happened: Minnesota State earned a 9-0 victory over Northern State in its only match of the week.
Rankings: In the March 30th edition of the ITA Central Region rankings, the Mavericks as a squad were ranked seventh. Junior #1 singles player
Sarah Madigan was ranked ninth individually, while Madigan and freshman
Kathryn Gavin were ranked #6 in doubles.
