Mankato, Minn. --- Fresh off of a championship performance at the 2010 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament, the Minnesota State baseball team is rated 15th in the most recent poll issued by the National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association of America (NCBWA).
UC-San Diego, which received all 13 first-place votes, tops the chart. New Mexico Highlands, the top-rated team in the Central Region and the host of this weekend’s NCAA Central Regional, is rated seventh nationally.
MSU, which was rated 19th in last week’s poll and has been rated in the top 25 nine times this year, captured both the NSIC regular-season and post-season tournament titles this year.
The Mavericks, who stand 40-13 overall and have won 13 of their last 16 games, are scheduled to play Nebraska-Kearney Thursday in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Division II Central Region tournament in Farmington, N.M.
