Winona, Minn. --- Eight Mavericks recorded top-five finishes Saturday as the Mavericks competed in the Winona State Qualifier.
Junior Nick Yenser cleared 15’4 ¼” to win the pole vault, while junior Todd DeJong earned the shot put title with a toss of 52’3 ¼”.
In other field events, senior Michael Robinson finished second in the discus with a toss of 159’3”, while freshman Grant Luer was third with a throw of 156’5”.
In the 1,500-meter run, senior Jonathan Stoltman won the event with a time of 3:58.73.
A handful of Mavericks ran in the 400-meter dash as junior Adam Endres finishes second with a time of :48.99. Senior Sam Lance was third in :49.60, while freshman Austin Eliason finished fourth with a time of :50.74.
The Mavericks will learn which athletes have qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division II Championships later next week. The championships are held in Charlotte, N.C., May 27-29.
