Mankato, Minn. -- Minnesota State women's soccer coach Peter McGahey has announced three captains for the 2010 season.
The three captains leading the 2010 team will be seniors,
Emily Petrovich, Jessie Audas and
Laura Leber.
Last year, Petrovich was an
Academic All-NSIC member and appeared in 18 matches and recorded two shots on goal. For her career, Petrovich - who is an international business major - is 0-2--2.
Audas Was an
ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District V Second-Team member and a
Third-Team All-NSIC pick. Last season, Audus appeared in 20 matches and finished with two goals - both game winners - and two assists. During her time as a Maverick she has appeared in 63 matches and is a human biology major.
Leber was the
2009 NSIC Preseason Player of the Year and earned a spot on the
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V First-Team, the
All-NSIC First-Team, the
Daktronics All-Central Region First-Team, the
NSCAA Women's NCAA Division II All-Central Region Second-Team and was an
Honorable Mention All-American by Daktronics. Leber - a Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services major - finished with 11 goals and three assists last year and has 78 points in her career (34 goals and 10 assists) while appearing in 63 matches.
The Mavericks finished their 2009 season 13-5-2, earning its fifth appearance, third consecutive, in the NCAA Division II tournament.
