MOORHEAD, Minn.--- The Minnesota State mens track and field team entered day two of the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in first-place with 49.5 points and finished the meet with 153.50 points, earning the NSIC Outdoor Title for the third consecutive year. The men's track and field team also earned the NSIC Indoor Title earlier this year.
In field events, junior Todd DeJong finished second in the shot put with a toss of 16.37 meters, eanring MSU eight points, while sophomore Tyler Velzke took eighth (14.85 meters) earning two team points and senior Michael Robinson grabbed ninth (14.59 meters) earning one team point.
The triple jump saw junior Adedayo Ologunde take fifth with a distance of 13.89 meters, earning four points for MSU.
The Mavericks had three Mavericks earn team points in the discus, freshman Grant Luer took second (51.05 meters) earning eight points, Robinson grabbed third (48.37 meters) grabbing six points and Velzke taking sixth (45.76m) to earn three points.
In track events, freshman Nick Nelson added another point with an eighth-place finish (10.97) in the 100 meter dash.
Freshman Austin Eliason took fifth in the 200 meter finals, grabbing four team points for MSU with a time of 21.98.
In the 400 meter dash, senior Sam Lance took second (49.10) run adding eight more to the Maverick total, while junior Adam Endres added another point by finishing eighth with a time of 50.59.
Senior Denise Mokaya earned first-place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.06, earning 10 points for the Mavericks, while senior Jonathan Stoltman took eighth (2:00.10) in the event earning another point for MSU.
In the 1500 meter run, Mokaya took second-place (3:56.26) earning eight points, while senior James Krajsa finished fifth (3:59.61), earning four points.
In the 5000-meter run, Krajsa finished second with a time of 14:51.90, grabbing eight points, while Mokaya took fourth, tallying five team points, with a time of 15:00.73.
Junior Lucas Torres grabbed six team points by taking third in the 400-meter hurdle finals with a time of 55.89, while freshman Robert Gunderson picked up a point in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.30.
The 4x100 team earned the team five points with their fourth place finish, posting a time of 42.35, while the 4x400 team took first with a time of 3:17.44, earning 10 points.
Minnesota State will take part in the Last Chance Meet with the location yet to be determined.
