Matt Margenthaler has announced that
Andre Gilbert has announced his intentions to transfer to MSU beginning in the fall of 2010.
Gilbert – a native of Brooklyn Park, Minn. – began his career at South Dakota State before transferring to Mount San Jacinto College. Following his time at MSJC, Gilbert played at Kansas State in 2007-2008 and has been out of basketball since. He will enter the 2010-11 campaign as a senior.
While at Kansas State he played in 27 games and earned 15 starts and was named to the
Big 12 All-Newcomer Team after averaged 3.9 points and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 36.5 percent from the floor. During his season with KSU, Gilbert helped guide the Wildcats to a 21-12 record and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament where they defeated Southern California (80-67) before falling to Wisconsin (72-52). He was coached by Frank Martin at Kansas State, and played with Michael Beasley, who was a second-overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.
At Mount San Jacinto College, Gilbert averaged 7.1 points per game and 7.1 rebounds, while he averaged 8.5 points and six rebounds per game at South Dakota State.
“We are very excited that Andre has chosen to attend Minnesota State University,” said Margenthaler. “He is a very athletic player who can play five positions for us. His length and toughness will fill a big gap on our squad which we lost due to graduation last year.”

Travis Meinders (Worthington, Minn.) as newcomers to join the Maverick stable in the 2010-11 campaign.
The Mavericks finished the 2009-10 season with a 25-5 record.
