Mankato, Minn. --- A pair of former Minnesota State baseball players have recently inked deals with independent professional baseball teams.

Outfielder Zach Danelson (Great Falls, Mont.) has been signed by Sioux Falls of the American Association and infielder Jay Bresnahan (Edina, Minn.) has joined Rockford of the Northern League.

Danelson played for MSU for two years (2007 and 2008) and helped lead the Mavericks to a pair of NCAA tournament appearances.  Named to the 2007 All-North Central Conference team and an honorable mention All-NCC pick as a senior, Danelson appeared in 102 games as a Maverick and in addition to hitting .325, knocked in 52 runs, stole bases and hit 10 home runs during the course of his two-year MSU career.

Bresnahan was named ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region Second Team as a senior when he led the Mavericks in batting (.380), on base percentage (.484), runs scored (58), and walks (35).  He completed his career with 202 hits, which ranks second all-time at MSU. Bresnahan, who hit .366 for his four-year MSU career, was All-NSIC First Team and Daktronics Second Team All-Region as a senior and appeared in four straight NCAA tournaments.  His .435 average as a sophomore ties for sixth on MSU’s single-season list.
