Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men’s hockey team has announced its team captains for the 2010-11 season.
Serving as captain is senior forward
Rylan Galiardi (Calgary, Alta.). Assistant captains will be senior defensemen
Channing Boe (Bemidji, Minn.) and
Ben Youds (Maple Grove, Minn.).
Galiardi has chalked up 22-40—62 in 108 career games with the Mavericks. Galiardi, who tied for second on the team scoring list with 11-14--25 as a junior and finished the season ranking tied for third on the team in goals, tied for first with five power play tallies and tied for third with one shorthanded goal. A two-time WCHA All-Academic pick, he also was a 2009-10 WCHA Scholar-Athlete.
A two-time WCHA All-Academic pick, Boe has 3-12--15 in 93 career games. He served as an assistant captain last year and was one of four MSU players to see action in all 39 games.
Named MSU’s Unsung Hero after leading the Mavericks in scoring in 2009-10 with 3-23--26, Youds achieved career-highs for goals, assists and points as a junior. Just the fifth defenseman to lead MSU in scoring, he’s a two-time WCHA All-Academic pick,
The Mavericks host the University of British Columbia Oct. 4 in exhibition action prior to officially opening the season with a nonconference home series with St. Lawrence slated for Oct. 9 and 10.
