Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's cross country team is in the midst of fall training and are looking to improve on a fourth-place finish at last year's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference meet.
Jen Blue enters her 10th season as the Maverick coach this fall and hopes the squad can improve on last year and be a top-three finisher in the league and a top-eight finisher in the region.
“I am very excited for the year," said Blue. "Especially with the young talent that we have."
The Mavericks this year have a very young squad. Blue said that freshmen Laura Hughes (Mankato, Minn.) and Heather Tobias (West Des Moines, Iowa) will help the team score points this season.
Blue believes that Augustana and the University of Mary will both contend for titles in league and region action.
Minnesota State opens the 2010 season Sept. 18 at St. Olaf.
