Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State senior defenseman Kurt Davis has been named All-Western Collegiate Hockey Association Third Team.
Davis, a Plymouth, Minn., native, currently stands tied for MSU's team scoring lead and leads the Mavericks in assists with 8-17--25 on the year. The four-year letterwinner, who ranks sixth in the league in scoring for defensemen this year, has 20-74--94 in 148 career games to rank third on MSU's career scoring by defensemen list. Davis also ranks as MSU's all-time top-scoring defenseman for MSU's NCAA Division I era. Now a two-time All-WCHA Third team selection (he was also named All-WCHA Third Team as a sophomore in 2008-09), Davis has been named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week three times during the course of his career.
The Mavericks play at fifth-ranked University of Denver this weekend in the first round of the 2010-11 WCHA play-offs.
