Mayaguez, Puerto Rico --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team snapped a two-game skid with an 8-1 victory over the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, Tuesday afternoon.
The Mavericks opened the match with a pair of wins in doubles as senior
Heather Jensen and junior
Tegan Bakke earned an 8-0 win at the #3 flight. MSU picked up another point at the #1 flight as senior
Sarah Madigan and sophomore
Kathryn Gavin earned an 8-3 victory.
Minnesota State then swept through singles play to secure the win.
Bakke opened singles play at the #5 flight with a 6-0, 6-1 win and was followed by Gavin earning a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Madigan picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win at the top-flight while sophomore
Jenny Gustafson earned a 2-6, 6-0, 10-5 win at the #6 flight. The match closed the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win by Jensen at the #3 flight and a 6-0, 4-6, 10-6 win by sophomore
Brandi Dohmen at the #4 flight.
Minnesota State (7-3) faces the University of Connecticut tomorrow at 4 pm.
