Mankato, Minn. --- Including a pair of exhibition games, the Minnesota State men’s hockey team is slated to play 20 home games in 2010-11 as the University formally announced its schedule today.
The Mavericks will two exhibition games over the course of the season including an early October date with the University of British Columbia and an end-of-December tilt with the U.S. U18 team from the USA National Team Development Program.
Including this year’s national champions three teams that made NCAA postseason tournament appearances last year - Minnesota Duluth, Colorado College and Nebraska Omaha - will travel to Mankato for the 2011-12 season.
Not including the exhibition game with the University of British Columbia slated for Oct. 3, the schedule features ten home contests prior to the end of December and eight home games in the second-half of the schedule.
MSU begins regular-season action with a nonconference road series at Rensselaer (Oct. 7-8). The Mavericks’ home-opening series is with UMass Lowell Oct. 14-15. The Mavericks travel to Denver Oct. 21-22 and is at Michigan Tech Nov. 4-5 prior to hosting St. Cloud State Nov. 11-12. MSU takes on the University of Minnesota Duluth in Duluth Nov. 18-19 and hosts Alaska Anchorage Nov. 25-26. A conference road series at Minnesota Dec. 2-3 precludes a nonference home matchup with Alabama-Huntsville Dec. 9-10 and home WCHA series with Colorado College Dec. 16-17.
The Mavericks’ post-holiday schedule includes a home exhibition game vs. the U.S, NTDP U18 team Dec. 30 and a road nonconference series at St. Lawrence Jan. 16-7. The University of Wisconsin visits Mankato Jan. 13-14 and Nebraska Omaha is here Jan. 20-21. MSU makes the trek north to face Bemidji State Jan. 27-28 before the Mavericks host Michigan Tech Feb. 3-4. The Mavericks are at Alaska Anchorage Feb. 10-11 before the last home series vs. Minnesota Duluth Feb. 17-18. MSU closes out the 2011-12 regular season with a league road series at North Dakota Mar. 2-3.
