Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men’s hockey team has announced its team captains for the 2012-13 season.

Serving as captains are senior forward Eriah Hayes and senior defenseman Tyler Elbrecht.

Hayes, a three-year letterwinner, shared the team-lead in goals last year and stood third on the team scoring charts with 13-11--24 in 36 games. The La Crescent, Minn., native has 32-28--60 in 112 career games with the Mavericks.

Elbrecht, also a three-year letterwinner, has 2-17--19 in 101 games played over the course of his MSU career.  The Edwardsville, Ill., native is a two-time WCHA Scholar-Athlete and a two-time WCHA All-Academic honoree.

The Mavericks host the University of Lethbridge (Alta.) Oct. 7 in exhibition action prior to officially opening the season with a nonconference road series at Alabama-Huntsville slated for Oct. 12 and 13.
