On Tap: Minnesota State (0-0-0 overall, 0-0-0 WCHA) is at Alabama-Huntsville (0-0-0) in nonconference action this weekend in the first games of 2012-13 for the Mavericks. MSU and UAH play in Huntsville at the Von Braun Center (6,800) Friday (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday (7:00 p.m.).
About the MSU-UAH Series: In a series that dates back to the 1988-89 season, The Mavericks and the Chargers have played 38 times and the all-time series stands 17-17-4. MSU has won the last five encounters between the two schools and is unbeaten (7-0-1) in the last eight games vs. UAH. MSU claimed 4-2 and 9-1 wins over the Chargers last season in a pair of games played in Mankato.
MSU Most Recently: The Mavericks hosted the University of Lethbridge in exhibition action Sunday and came away with a 7-1 win. Sophomore forward Matt Leitner, last year’s leading scorer with 11-18--29, pace the Mavericks in the victory over the Pronghorns with a goal and three assists. Freshman forward Bryce Gervais had two goals and an assist and sophomore forward Chase Grant had two assists as MSU outshot Lethbridge 65-10.
UAH Most Recently: The Chargers hosted the University of Alabama Saturday and Sunday and came away with 12-0 and 10-1 wins over the Tide. UAH outshot Alabama by a total of 108-11 in the two games.
